This research proposes an innovative framework that combines smart waste management technologies (IoT, artificial intelligence, sensors, and data analytics) with the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from municipal solid waste. The study demonstrates how waste can be transformed into a valuable energy resource, reducing landfill dependency, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting aviation decarbonization. It introduces a revised waste management hierarchy that prioritizes composting, followed by SAF production, with incineration as a last-resort option. The paper also examines environmental benefits, economic challenges, policy requirements, and the role of digital technologies in creating a more sustainable and circular economy.
